Pet Vaccinations in Newmarket

Wellness and Vaccination Programs

Help us keep your pet healthy by bringing him or her in for regular checkups and vaccinations to our vet in Newmarket. Dogs and cats age far faster than people, so significant changes in your pet’s health can happen in a short time. Wellness programs allow us to diagnose diseases early when they’re easier to treat or manage. Often, we can help prevent diseases entirely, just by ensuring that your pet has received appropriate vaccinations and preventives. So, we recommend that healthy adult dogs and cats visit us once a year. Puppies, kittens, senior pets, and pets with health issues need more frequent checkups. In addition, we’ll work with you to create a wellness program, including a vaccination and prevention protocol, for your pet. Call us today to schedule your pet’s wellness exam.

Puppy Wellness and Vaccination Programs

Congratulations on your new puppy! Thank you for choosing Brooker Ridge Animal Hospital, the most trusted veterinary clinic in the Newmarket and Aurora area, to care for your new family addition.

Our puppy wellness program is designed to ensure your puppy gets off to a healthy start in life. During the critical first few months, we provide support and guidance on nutrition, behavior, training, and socialization to help your puppy grow into a well-mannered and healthy dog.

It’s important to protect your puppy from preventable diseases until they are fully vaccinated. We administer core vaccines against canine diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, canine hepatitis, and rabies, as well as non-core vaccines including Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Parainfluenza, and Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme Disease).

Our parasite control program helps safeguard your puppy from common intestinal parasites, with the option to bring a stool sample for examination.

Newborn puppies are often susceptible to roundworms, which can cause symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and soft stool. It’s crucial to protect and treat your puppy for roundworms, as they can be transmitted to humans. Other parasites commonly seen in puppies include tapeworms, Coccidia species, Giardia, Whipworms, and Hookworms, some of which are also zoonotic.

Kitten Wellness and Vaccination Programs

Congratulations on your new kitten! Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your new family member.

Our kitten wellness program is tailored to ensure your kitten starts life on the right path to a long and healthy future. During these crucial early months, we provide guidance on nutrition, behavior, training, litter box habits, and socialization to help your kitten develop into a well-adjusted and healthy cat.

It’s essential to schedule your kitten’s first exam as soon as possible to protect them from preventable diseases. Until they receive a series of vaccines, kittens are vulnerable to serious illnesses. We administer vaccinations against rabies and panleukopenia (distemper), and may recommend additional vaccines based on your cat’s risk factors, such as feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). Additionally, your kitten will be tested and treated for common parasites.

Our parasite control program helps safeguard your kitten from intestinal parasites, with the option to bring a stool sample for examination. Roundworms, a common parasite in newborn kittens, can cause gastrointestinal symptoms and are zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted to humans. Other parasites commonly seen in kittens include tapeworms, Coccidia species, Giardia, Whipworms, and Hookworms, some of which can also affect humans.

We eagerly anticipate meeting your new kitten!

Adult Pet Wellness and Vaccination Programs

Bringing your pet in for an annual checkup can help reassure you that your dog or cat is healthy or help us detect early diseases or hidden conditions. Early detection helps your pet live longer by improving the prognosis and treatment success of many diseases, and also keep medical costs down. Depending on the disease, some pets don’t show any symptoms. Many dogs and cats are good at hiding signs that something is wrong.Dogs and cats age quicker than humans, so it is even more crucial for our companion animals to receive regular checkups. In addition, the risks of diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, hormone disorders and liver and kidney problems all increase with age. During your pet’s wellness exam, our veterinarians will perform a physical & dental assessment, checking your pet from nose to tail. We will also make sure your pet receives appropriate vaccinations and preventives. Our veterinarians may also perform tests such as blood work, fecal analysis, and urine tests to check for parasites and underlying diseases.Call us today to schedule your pet’s exam.

Senior Pet Wellness

As dogs and cats get older, they may need more attention and special care. Our senior wellness program can help your pet remain healthy as he or she ages. It is easier to treat or manage, if we catch any potential problems earlier. Regular veterinary checkups can actually help your pet live longer. As your pet ages the risks of arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, hormone disorders (such as hyperthyroid, hypothyroid, cushing, etc), and liver and kidney problems all increase.

Before your dogs or cat reaches senior status and turns 7 years of age, we recommend a baseline exam and diagnostic workup.

Call us today to schedule your pet first exam and ensure they receive the care they need for a healthy and happy life.
