Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a noninvasive, simple, quick, painless procedure that is used to reflect underlying heart conditions by measuring the electrical impulses of the heart by positioning ECG’s leads (electrical sensing devices) on the body in standardized locations, provides information about the part of the heart that triggers each heartbeat, the nerve conduction of the heart, and the rhythm and rate of the heart. Also it can give us an idea if there is any cardiac arrhythmia or an increase in the heart size which is commonly seen in Dilated Cardiomyopathy, Valvular heart diseases, and Congestive heart failure.
X-rays are a powerful diagnostic tool for a variety of health conditions, such as identifying the location and the extent of a bone fracture or bone cancer, to determine the stage of a pregnancy and the number of puppies/kittens, stomach problems or gastrointestinal obstructions, bladder stones, organ damage, to determine disease progression, and tumours. We have an on-site digital x-ray which provides high-quality radiographs to help the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
Usually, x-rays do not require sedation, but if the extent of the animal’s injury is too bad, or if the animal remains too agitated to stay still for the procedure, the veterinarian may offer sedation to be able to quickly finish the diagnostic tests. Our staff work as quickly as possible to reduce the stress on the animal during the procedure. X-rays will be reviewed with the owner in the exam room, with a full explanation of any findings.
